Did you know that work doesn’t end with the completion of a commercial construction project? Once construction workers pack up and leave, the task of cleaning the area must commence. This is where commercial (post construction) cleaning services come into play.
It is their duty to dispose of material residue as well as the cleaning of windows, walls and flooring. The duties of the cleaning staff must be taken quite seriously since their jobs directly affect the safety and cleanliness of the building itself.
The cleaning job MUST be completed per code to avoid any problems. For instance, it can be incredibly difficult for a new building to be sold if it is not properly cleaned.
There are some cleaning jobs that require the removal of hazardous material and if proper techniques are not utilized, the building can become (labelled as) dangerous. It does need to be noted that this is a job that will require the use of specialized methods, equipment and products for cleaning for the site being left in a safe and healthy condition.
If, during the construction process, the windows are left open the interior can easily become filled with debris and dust. It is the responsibility of the crew to remove the dust and debris while cleaning the fixtures and cabinets thoroughly.
When deciding to choose a career in construction cleaning, you must note that stains, dirt and paint must be removed from floors and more. Additionally, these areas must be either buffed, waxed or varnished. The flooring of the building will also need to be prepped for the foot traffic that it will endure daily.
There will also be materials (pebbles, cement, concrete and mud) that will need to be dusted, scraped and vacuumed from window sills and more.
Hand cleaning and pressure washing is a major factor within the line of work of post construction cleaning of windows. There are several times that workers must use scaffolding and/or tall ladders as a measure of ensuring that the windows are thoroughly and properly cleaned.
For the proper cleaning of these large windows, there are specialized skills that are required. A single wrong move can result in death or a severe injury, therefore precautions must be taken and adhered to. The property will need to be vacuumed (if there is carpeting) and it will need to be checked for any left behind screws, nails, etc.
The building may also need to be ventilated if the carpeting has been glued down as a measure of eliminating fumes that can be emitted. The building will need to be free of odor and then completely inspected at the completion of the cleaning process.
